Welcome from the Governors of Holt Community Primary School:
The FGB (Full Governing Body) has the important role of guiding the development of the school and supporting the staff to fulfil the aspirations they have for our pupils.
At this particular time, our FGB are taking a more robust view regarding the monitoring systems and how these can be better regulated and embedded into the assessment system. This requires regular monitoring by Governors. The aim is that our pupils will have a greater knowledge of their own capabilities and that each will be given positive “next steps” to enable them to move on with confidence in their own ability. This applies whether from year to year or to the next tier of their education.
As Governors, we must constantly take on training and further learning to maintain our roles. We are expected to visit school on a regular basis and to be sufficiently informed to ask questions which challenge Senior Leaders, in their relevant roles, and other staff we may be monitoring.
Fundamentally, our Governors’ aim is to maintain a strategic overview of what is actually happening in the school and relate this to what we have been told is happening. This is, of course, very much a simplification and does actually involve a considerable amount of planning and implementation. However, the end product of this work is to ensure that all our pupils are experiencing the teaching required for the development of well-rounded and well-informed young people as they move through to Yr 7.
The children’s well-being and personal growth is a key priority at Holt, and it is well supported. We are committed to ensuring an encouraging learning environment and positive learning opportunities for all.
